FREE Urology Camp

Shirya Bhatt Mission Hospital held a free Urology camp in the hospital premises. Eminent Urologist from USA Dr. Shiban Warikoo (MD) examined the patients suffering with kidney problem, prostrate and other renal disorders. Eminent Physician Dr.K.L.Chowdhury (MD) and Urologist Dr.Suresh Saraf (MS) were also present on the occasion. Shirya Bhatt Mission Hospital is regularly holding camps, some of them with the help of doctors from over seas. This was the 57th, camp today.

Maximum patients were from displaced camps of Jammu though there were also a good number of patients from the Jammu and its adjoining areas like Udhampur, Kathua and Akhnoor. Hospital had made special arrangements of transportation for the patients of Battal Balia camp udhampur.

In the camp the patients were provided free Ultra sound test, blood tests and medicines. Dr.Satesh Mattoo Radiologist (Santusht Ultra sound) provided the free Ultra sound to the patients on spot.

At the end Dr.Warikoo while deliberating on the medical findings of the camp said that though the prostate enlargement and kidney stone problem is very common in the northern region but in case of exiled population the problem is unattended and unidentified with the result these diseases have taken the ugly shape. He said these problems need much precaution and proper education with regard to their food habits etc. He was shocked to learn that the J&K Govt. has failed to provide the medical aid to the exiled population particularly renal failure cases living in displaced camps.

Dr.Warikoo appreciated the role of Shirya Bhatt Mission Hospital and its dedicated team who are giving their physical input regularly. He got the full feed back about the Mid day meal from the patients of Battal Balia camp. Dr.Warikoo himself observed that the displaced population is suffering with anemia and advised that the programme of Mid day meal shall be continued for few years more and shall be extended to other camps also. He donated 500 $ on spot (Cheque) for the Mid day meal.

Vir ji Bhat Gen.Secretary of the hospital apprised about the other field activities of the hospital and the system of holding the medical camps in the refugee camps and the distribution of the Mid day meal. He gave all credit to the doctors of the mission hospital and its social activists who are working round the clock under the guidance of Dr.K.L.Chowdhury. He informed that the Mid day meal could be possible only because of KOA Canada and Pt.Moti Koul. The camp was organized under the supervision of Sh.R.K.Pandita Manager of the hospital by S/sh. O.N.Bhat, J.L.Raina, M.L.Sidha & C.J.Kak.
