Literary Heritage Preservation

The literary works of Kashmiri Pandits represent our intellectual and creative legacy, worthy of preservation on their artistic merit alone.

Modern Kashmiri literature flourished in the second half of the 20th century, with KPs being among its most distinguished contributors. Before the religious radicalization of the late 1980s, Kashmiri literature was aligned with prevalent literary trends worldwide, showcasing our community's intellectual vigor and creative spirit.

Our Commitments:

Compile a comprehensive catalog of Kashmiri Pandit authors and their works
Organize interactive sessions with living literary figures
Salvage, translate, and transliterate significant works for broader accessibility
Create platforms for contemporary Kashmiri Pandit writers
Aim to access data from Government publications, libraries, Radio Kashmir, and Doordarshan Srinagar.

Spotlight on Preservation:

Significant progress has been made in the personal project to preserve the works of renowned writer Prof. Hari Krishna Kaul, including translations of selected short stories and the recomposition of his work in Nastaliq script. This serves as a model for our broader literary preservation efforts.

Literary Legends Series:

We're particularly excited to announce our upcoming interactive session with Dr. Sohan Koul, the most recent recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi award for Kashmiri Literature (2024). Our first interactive session with Dr. Koul to be scheduled in mid-2025. Other sessions featuring Prof. R.L. Shant, Dr. S.S. Toshkhani, Piarey Hatash, and Dr. Agnishekhar.

Get Involved:

Reach out to be a part of this initiative, organize, catalogue, translate, host sessions, invite a guest, share resources, and more.
