Heritage Sites Preservation
Our temples, shrines, and historical sites in Kashmir provide tangible connections to our heritage and serve as witnesses to our historical presence. It is estimated that there are between 150 and 400 KP heritage sites in Kashmir Valley. The long-term strategy of KOA is to address most, if not all, of those sites.
For execution in 2025, two strategic sites have been selected for immediate support - Pokhribal Temple and Roop Bhawani Temple.

The Sites in Kashmir Preservation team has made progress in our mission to preserve physical sites of spiritual and historical significance, starting with the Shivalun Temple project. We are working with many organizations, including Samajik Vikas Sansthaan. We've begun developing our comprehensive plan for Heritage Sites preservation, which will be finalized later this year. We are collaborating with on-ground partners to document, protect, and restore key heritage sites. This may include documentation of these priority sites to ensure their significance is preserved even beyond physical restoration efforts.
